eVehicles of Hawaii » About Us
Who are we?

eVehicles of Hawaii, LLC, (eVHI) was formed was formed in 2002 by Mark Snyder, President and General Manager, and Philip Armour, Chairman and CFO, two `mature' automotive executives with over 35 years of industry experience between them, 10 of which in the specialized area of Electric Vehicles or EVs. Mark and Philip realized that EV technology had finally gotten to the stage where solid companies were building good vehicles, useful across a wide range of applications. eVHI was created to give business, government, military and private consumers expert advice about and easy access to these `niche' vehicles. And do it at a competitive price with top-notch service. The sales team consists of Brad Ulep and Harry Harris, both also with many years of automotive and EV experience. The service team of Chad Bethel and Sean Nakamatsu is talented, enthusiastic and well trained both by Mark and the manufacturers.
But first, here is a short course on Electric Vehicles. We refer to EVs as niche or specialized vehicles because they are able to do a specific job very well, better in fact than more expensive `main stream' gas or diesel internal combustion (IC) powered cars and trucks. Electric motors are simple, quiet and powerful, with few moving parts, as well as being clean running with no tail pipe emissions - in fact, no tail pipe . Vehicles powered by electricity are less expensive to buy, run and maintain than comparable `regular' vehicles and, of course, are quiet and much more environmentally friendly. While EVs do not go as far or as fast as IC cars and trucks, in most cases that extra speed and/or range is not needed for the local tasks at hand, an expensive luxury you pay for over and over again at the gas pump and the service department. This is especially true for small, densely populated, environmentally sensitive island communities like our Hawaiian Islands where the added benefits of clean, quiet, inexpensive transportation are doubly appreciated.
Ask yourself the following question: Why take a $40,000, 300 horse-power, 120 mph, 5000 pound SUV, that burns $2 - $3 of gas, oil and rubber every 15-20 miles, to the local store, a trip of less than 10 miles on the 35 mph speed limit, crowded Oahu or Maui roads, when one of eVehicles' products, a $10,000 Neighborhood EV (NEV), will easily do the trip in comfort and safety for 10% of the operating costs, plus free Municipal parking and no `smog'? And it's more fun to ride in a NEV! Come take a test drive in one of our Columbia or Dynasty NEVs and you'll see. The answer to this question is obvious: go electric. And the benefits of going electric apply to a very wide range of transportation needs.
Electric trucks and vans can haul goods and service personnel around Kaneohe, Kona or Kahalui cheaply, quietly and cleanly. Electric buses can carry tourists, locals and/or staff in quiet, eco-friendly, air-conditioned comfort throughout Honolulu, Hilo or Hickam, and soon will be doing so at the Honolulu International Airport thanks to another eVehicles product, the new Wiki Wiki hybrid busses built by EVI. You don't need expensive, noisy, smoke-belching diesels or V-8s, over-built to run cross-continent from LA to NYC, to get these local jobs done. And of course, don't forget golf carts! We have the best-engineered, longest range cart in golfdom: the Columbia ParCar, the standard of the industry.
So why pay for superfluous capabilities you don't need and extra maintenance, expensive fuel, dirt and noise you don't want? Columbia ParCar, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Dynasty Motor Cars, of British Columbia, Canada, and Electric Vehicles International (EVI), of Evansville, Indiana, make a wide variety of EVs for a wide variety of tasks:
a NEV as a second car `run-about' for errands and deliveries
a stock chaser or burden carrier at a warehouse, hotel or shopping center
a fleet of golf carts at the pro shop
a delivery truck or van for a local business
an airport tow vehicle
a tourist sightseeing or people mover tram
all of the above at a military base …
The limit is the imagination. So let us here at eVehicles of Hawaii take a look at your transportation needs. Come challenge us. We are confident that we can find the right vehicle for your needs that will be both less expensive and `friendlier' than you ever thought possible.
